DLO – Make It Work – Shoe Rack – The 5 Musketeers

Introduction: This term for our DLO team 5 had to make a project that would improve team 5/school. Our theme was “Make It Work”. Everyone in team 5 had to get into groups of 5-6 people. Each group had to make one project each. What we basically had to do was find a project that we wanted to create, research about it, and then create it. Our group was called “The 5 Musketeers”. This term we are studying TECHNOLOGY. We’re asking the question,  ‘What can we design, build, create or change to improve school life at Pt England School?’. Working with a group of people we had to present a movie. Using the question given to us to create something we can use at school that could be for fun or to benefit our school. This is because our theme for this Term is ‘Make it work’. Our group included: Me (Swaimah), Zaria, Vika, Eleni, Lynette.

Plan: We first planned together on a piece of paper and discussed what our project is going to be. We all agreed to do a shoe rack because we have noticed that outside our classroom the shoes have been a mess. People have been throwing their shoes like animals. We thought that we could make a shoe rack exactly like mini cubbyholes. We sketched out the shoe rack and how it would look . We first thought that we would make a shoe rack with a storage place at the bottom. But then we knew it’ll take a lot of time to create.

Supplies: We had to research the materials and wood for our project. We went online on Mitre-10 and Bunnings warehouse to find some materials. We found some wood and nails to use for our project. Our team came together and collected all the supplies. We all agreed with the prices that the materials were. We had a price limit so we kept the budget low.

Problem: We had a problem with the project. Our problem was that our teacher who kindly went and bought the materials said that we couldn’t make our whole project because they didn’t have enough money. We just rolled with it but I was a bit sad because we worked hard for weeks/months and we couldn’t make our full project. Our teacher only gave us 9-10 planks of wood to use and some nails.

Create Project: We planned out our project and placed them together. We then had to screw the wood planks together and then figure out if we did it right. It took some time to actually think really hard about where the planks of wood would go. It took us about 30 minutes or so to figure out our shoe rack. We then screwed it all together and made our final project. We then painted the shoe rack to give it a bit of a cool vibe.

Reflection of Karen’s school picture (Graphic Novel)

Reflection of Karen’s school picture – Little sisters – By: Ann M. Martin

Karen has to get glasses! She doesn’t want them, especially because school pictures are going to be taken soon. But she picks out some pretty pink ones and thinks she looks very grown-up. Then Yicky Ricky at school starts calling her names, like Owl Girl and Googly Eyes. If Karen wears her glasses for the school picture, Ricky will make fun of her. If she doesn’t wear them, she’ll feel like she’s afraid to be herself. Glasses or no glasses, that Ricky is going to get it! Ricky end up getting Karma! He has to where glasses himself

At school Ricky is getting made fun of his glasses curing Recess. Karen felt sad for Ricking so she went and told the boys to go away and leave Ricky alone. Ricky didn’t thank Karen for what she did. He got mad at her and said “Leave me alone Karen! I don’t need a girl to hold my back, I can do it myself”. Ricky walked away grumpy to the swing and the playground. He was all alone, Hannie and Nancy told Karen to play Hopscotch with them.

Recess was over and it was home time. Karen rushed to her mom and told her that she wanted to go home and not to the library. Karen went home and thought of some names to call Ricky. She didn’t had any idea at all. the last day of sixth grade Ricky and Karen wee best friends. The message in this story is: Don’t make fun of others Karma will come back. What good friends looks like

Introduction

Kia ora, My name is Swaimah and I am going to write an explanation about Good friends. What is a good friend? A good friend is a friend that trusts you and who is honest about things. A good friend is someone who always looks up to you and supports you in any type of thing no matter who they are. The key is to always help your friend and never fight with them or else your true friendship is all over. I think being a good friend means to be loyal and don’t say mean things to your friend. Remember to always treat others the way you want to be treated. This means treat others with respect and they will show you respect back. You can also trust the person and they can trust you back. If you are mean to them they will be mean to you back. Whatever you do to them they do it to you.

Trustworthy

Being trustworthy to a friend makes them feel really good about themselves. If you want to be a good friend try to trust your friend and see how it goes, if you believe that your friend can do anything you might as well just trust them. Nothing else but, trusting your friends means a lot to them. Not trusting a friend is really bad because trustworthy is the first thing you should really do if you want to be a fantastic friend. We all trust each other in different ways, we all have different personalities, just because you look different or you come from a different country it doesn’t mean we can’t trust them. We should give each other a chance to trust one another to see if they are good, trustworthy friend. How can I be a trustworthy friend? What you have to do is trust the person. It’s not really that hard at all. When your friend says “ let’s go on a ride in my new car!” trust them and say “Sure!I’d love to!”. Always trust them no matter what.

Honesty

Honesty is so important because if you don’t tell your friend the truth about what happened then they can’t trust you anymore. If you don’t wanna lose your friend it’s better if you tell the truth and don’t lie to each other. Honesty is always the key to friendship. Just because no one can trust you, you should always be honest to them so they can really appreciate you for telling the truth. Honesty is always what people look up to, When you tell the truth people will trust you more onwards day by day.  How can I be honest? Well first of all you have og to a friend you trust and when they ask you a question like “What happened during lunchtime?” You have to answer back what you actually did. Don’t just say “ I was playing tag the whole time” You should add more information and more words than just simple words. For example you could say “ Me, Zaria, Vika and Mary we were all playing tag down on the big field, It was really fun I was the tagger first then Mary the Zaria and the Vika!”. You can add more information if you want to.

Loyal

Loyalty is always the key to being a good friend. Loyalty is similar to honesty. Loyalty is when you give back the stuff your friend gave to you. Don’t just keep the stuff they gave to you because you might lose it or break it. Always return their stuff back, if you see someone else taking or stealing your friend’s stuff go ahead and be an upstander and tell them to put it back. If they don’t put it back, go tell the teacher or an adult you see near you. Always care for your friend’s equipment and never lose them, treat the equipment like it’s yours. Go find a friend and tell them if the equipment is there’s, if it is there’s you should properly give it back to them so they don’t be sad or upset.

Conclusion

Being a good friend means a lot to your friend. Being trustworthy, honest and loyal is how you are a good friend to them. Never lose trust from your friend or else you will be lonely forever (not really forever). Especially when you are friends with them for at least 3-4 years. You should ever leave them if they have been friends with you for a long time. If you are trustworthy or honest you will be in a long friendship for years. Thank you for reading my explanation writing. I hope you enjoyed it.
